Plasma Composition of Insulin

چکیده

I NSULIN is essential for the normal metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins in the monogastric animal (Tepperman, 1968) ; however, its role in the normal metabolism of ruminants is poorly understood. Since alloxan-induced diabetes produced a similar response in ruminant and nonruminant animals (Reid, Hinks and Mills, 1963; Jarret, 1946) and depancreatized sheep behaved similarly to alloxan-treated animals (Jarret and Potter, 1953), insulin is apparently important in carbohydrate metabolism by ruminants. Additional evidence supporting an important role of insulin in ruminant animals was obtained when insulin release from the pancreas was shown to occur following an elevation of the blood levels of glucose and fructose (Manns and Boda, 1967) and of propionic and butyric acids (Manns, Boda and Willes, 1967). In other studies, plasma levels of the non-esterified fatty acids of ruminants were depressed by insulin administration (Kuhlemeier and Trenkle, 1966). Ruminants responded to insulin-induced hypoglycemia with symptoms ranging from mild lassitude to severe convulsions (Reid, 1951a, b). Loss of nitrogen by the diabetic sheep has been observed (Reid, 1950a, b), but the role of insulin was not investigated. The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of insulin on the circulatory amino acids of sheep with concomitant observations on circulatory glucose and acetate.

Effect of progressive resistance training on insulin resistance and plasma adiponectin concentration in overweight men.

Background and objectives: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of a progressive resistance-training program beside an energy deficit diet on body Composition, insulin resistance and plasma adiponectin levels in overweight adult men. Methods: Twenty-five overweight men (age =32.1 ± 4.3 years, BMI =28.9 ± 1.3 kg.m-2) were randomly assigned into one of the two groups: resis...

Single and Concurrent Effects of Endurance and Resistance Training on Plasma Visfatin, Insulin, Glucose and Insulin Resistance of Non-Athlete Men with Obesity

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of endurance (ET), resistance (RT) and concurrent training (CT) on plasma levels of visfatin, insulin, glucose and insulin resistance of non-athlete men with Obesity. It was a semi-experimental study. Thirty six men [age: 21.48 (0.25), and BF%: 27.39 (0.52)], voluntarily participated in this study after public announcement in univer...

اثر یک دوره تمرین تناوبی شدید پرحجم بر ویسفاتین و واسپین سرمی، مقاومت به انسولین، نیم‌رخ لیپیدی و ترکیب بدنی مردان با اضافه وزن

Background and Objective: Adipokines are adipocytokines that are released from adipose tissue and play a role in increasing or decreasing insulin resistance. The aim of the present study was to survey the effect of high volume high intensity training on plasma visfatin and vaspin, insulin resistance, lipid profile and body composition of overweight men. Materials and Methods: Twenty overwei...

Association Between Plasma Metabolites and Insulin Sensitivity Indexes in Fat-Tailed and Thin-Tailed Lambs During Negative and Positive Energy Balances

Background: Fatty acid mobilization and inflammatory response of adipose tissues vary in various depots, hence the response of fat-tailed and thin-tailed sheep breeds to different energy balances was hypothesized to be different due to differences in proportion and metabolism of various adipose depots in these breeds which may affect whole body insulin sensitivity. Objective: Current study aime...

Impact of combined exercise training on plasma concentration of Apelin, resistin and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetics’ male

ABSTRACT Introduction: Apelin and resistin as novel adipokines have insulin-sensitizing effects, which may be associated with decreased blood glucose concentration. In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of combined exercise training on plasma concentrations of apelin, resistin and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetics male (T2D). Methods: In a quasi-...
